an interesting concept and I think something that should be seriously considered in the internet age.

something like a podcast series where a very interested host reads through the book or goes chapter by chapter and then interviews the author and asks them questions and takes live audience ce questions or receives emailed questions from readers could be a fun accompanying thing. I could see myself doing this with my own manuscript someday

love this idea! You should do it!

Got to get the manuscript published first, but yes

The Stranger Things show runners had years to write a decent ending. They weren't rushed.

I think you’re suggesting we should go back to physical media and I agree.

Concerning books what interests most is the decisions writers make on the page: why they over-explain here and not here, why the protagonist said/did that, why this metaphor, etc…. I understand the story itself will explain everything once I finish the book; what I really mean is I’d like to know their thinking process.

In short, I like your brain — keep thinking 👹

It’s both-and, I think. Yes, more tangible forms of media, and also, learning more about the writer’s brain directly, which might not nessarily be through a physical medium.

Thank you for reading!

I’ve never understood anyone who likes movies but doesn’t own a player. Streaming movies is simply placing yourself at the center of a cultural and commercial vortex over which you have very little control.

When someone says “I’m watching Netflix”, it sounds exactly like “I’m eating McDonald’s”, or “I’m drinking Starbucks”. And not too far from “I’m living an algorithm”.

We have no TV either, nor do we have Netflix. But we do have a nice projector and a big wall and good speaker. It takes time and effort to set up and take down each time. My husband and I watch tv and movies very rarely, but when we do, we do so very intentionally and certainly don’t feel captured by an algorithm

I don’t necessarily want to watch more DVD extras myself, I want a way to transfer that joy to books, my true love

I respect your choices. I didn’t mean to be judgmental. Books are eternal. Best wishes.
